Hair stylists for Shakespeare in the Park 2025

Shoreside Theatre Incorporated
Events | Evenings/Weekends | Takapuna
13 January 2025 to 15 February 2025

The 29th season of Shakespeare in the Park in the outdoor amphitheatre of The PumpHouse Theatre Takapuna is going to look a little different to previous years and we need your help to do it!

Richard lll is being set in the 1940's so the director would love a couple of someones who can style hair in the fashion of that time (fingerwaves, pin curls etc)

Taming of the Shrew is a mix of modern and traditional - 2 actors in particular need 2 different looks during the first half of the show - fancy updos/wedding hair and sophisticated plaits

We have some equipment (curling irons, heated rollers) but not enough for everyone at the same time - Richard's cast has 4 very important female characters who would need styling around the same time each performance. As a not for profit charity we can't spend loads on product so you might have to be a bit creative ...

Requirements:

Friendly, personable, calm and flexible (you'll be working with actors!)

Some skill at being able to create the styles required - might suit a student or an experienced stylist who wants to try something different.

You would need to be available for production week (Jan 13- 17) to try things out - and then for every performance of the show you are working on.

The two directors Cath and Mags will be able to give more information.

Time commitment:

You'll be needed from 6pm (actor's call time) until interval (approximately 8.45pm each show)

The season starts on Saturday 18 January and runs until 15 February.

The two shows (Richard lll and Taming of the Shrew) are on alternate evenings with the exceptions of Sunday 26th January and Sunday 2nd February which are 2 indoor matinees starting at 2pm (so shifts will start earlier).

There are NO SHOWS on Mondays 20/27 Jan and 3 Feb 2025.
