Trustee (Grants) - Life Education Trust North Shore

We have a position available for a role as a Trustee on our board at Life Education Trust North Shore.

Life Education Trust North Shore (“LETNS”) is an independent charitable trust that delivers our Healthy Harold health and wellbeing education programme at North Shore schools (primary and intermediate), providing children with the facts and information that they need to make positive life choices. We have been actively involved in our local community for over 27 years and are one of 32 independent Life Education Trusts around Aotearoa with a National Office that provides support to us all.

Our Trust is run by a team of 7 volunteer trustees. While we come from differing backgrounds, we all see great value in what the Life Education programme delivers to our kids and are passionate about such an important cause. We want to expand the size of our Trust Board to enable us to offer more to our local community.

Requirements:

General Skills/competencies sought

  • Grant applications – a trustee who can take the lead with our grant applications, experience preferred (or training can be provided) - this is a critical role as the majority of our funding comes from grants.
  • Some governance experience preferred, although not essential.
  • Great interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of the Life Education programme.
  • An affiliation to the principles of the Life Education programme.

The role is voluntary (unpaid) and, as we are based on Auckland’s North Shore, we are ideally looking for people in the area who want to make a difference in their local community. This is not critical though and some of our trustees live outside the North Shore.

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment:

Trust meetings are held every two months – these are either in person or via video conference. Meetings typically last between 1 and 2 hours. Due to the mix of governance and management activities required, a time commitment of 4-6 hours per month outside of these meetings is typical.

Getting started:
The first step is to express your interest by filling out the form below. We will then put you in touch directly with the organisation for more information on the role and how to proceed.
