Legal Advisor/Mentor

About Us:
The Gastric Reflux Support Network NZ has been a beacon of hope and support for families dealing with the challenges of infant and childhood gastric reflux for over 20 years. Our mission is to provide a compassionate community and essential resources to help navigate the complexities associated with this condition. We offer guidance, share experiences, and provide up-to-date information to families across New Zealand.

What We’re Looking For:
As a well-established organisation, we are at a pivotal point in our journey. We are currently reviewing our structure and operations to ensure we remain effective and aligned with our mission. To support this review and our ongoing operations, we are seeking a Legal Advisor/Mentor to provide valuable legal insights and guidance.

Key Areas of Support:

Organisational Review: Assessing whether our current structure as a charity is still the best fit for our goals. Exploring alternative formats that might be more effective or conducive to our mission, and are a better fit for the NZ NFP landscape.
Legal Compliance and Governance: Ensuring we are compliant with all relevant laws and regulations and advising on best practices for nonprofit governance.
Contract Drafting and Review: Helping us navigate the legal implications of transitioning from relying on grant providers to engaging with sponsors. This includes drafting and reviewing contracts with sponsors and partners.
Ongoing Legal Advice: Providing general legal advice as needed to help us continue to operate smoothly and effectively.

While this sounds ominous, and you would know better than we do, we really are a very small charity and we understand that this process can/will/might take time

Requirements:

Legal Expertise: Preferably with experience in charity, nonprofit, or business law.
Commitment to Community: A dedication to supporting our cause and helping us continue to make a positive impact.
Clear Communication: Ability to explain complex legal concepts in a straightforward and understandable manner.
Strategic Thinking: Ability to provide advice that considers both our current needs and future direction.

What You’ll Gain:

Making a Difference: Your contribution will directly impact families dealing with the challenges of gastric reflux, helping us to provide better support and resources.
Community Involvement: Join a passionate team committed to making a positive difference.
Recognition and Gratitude: We will proudly acknowledge your support on our website and in our communications.

We anticipate needing your expertise for a few hours per month or on an as-needed basis for specific consultations. We are flexible and appreciative of ANY time you can dedicate to supporting our mission.
