Pukekohe Group Activity Assistant

Our Pukekohe Activity Group is looking for a volunteer/s to help out once a week, over a 20 week period starting on 13th February. The group meets on a Tuesday from 1.30pm to 3pm. Volunteers arrive half an hour earlier to help with setting up and stay after the group to pack up. The group is a fun blend of activities ranging from physical games to more crafty hands on activities. The role will require the volunteer to support the clients, help out organising activities and participating if needed. We would love your help! Dementia Auckland supports people with dementia and their family/whanau through a range of services across the greater Auckland region. We believe that with the most up to date support programmes, improved environments, and connections to community, people affected by dementia can continue to live an enriching and enjoyable life.

Requirements:

Good level of English, excellent people skills, able to show compassion, empathy and kindness. Able to commit for the duration of the group (20 weeks) Opportunities to remain in the volunteer team to assist with other group activities

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment:

3-4 hours approximately per week - Tuesday afternoons from 1pm to 3.30pm.
