Volunteer - Fertility Support

We are looking for Support Volunteer Coordinators to organise and coordinate monthly support groups for people facing infertility within the Auckland region.

The role of a Support Volunteer is incredibly rewarding. The focus is on helping others and offering much-needed support in the community. Attending a support group can dramatically change the experience of infertility for people and ‘lighten the load’ through reducing feelings of isolation. In this role, you will facilitate peer support connections and positive, constructive dialogue with the support of Fertility NZ. This is not one-on-one support.

Full training is provided. We also host annual training events and attendance is required bi-annually.

Requirements:

Key duties include
• Organise (in conjunction with the Support Coordinator) and facilitate monthly support groups
• Communicate with existing attendees as necessary
• Maintain Facebook communications and accept/decline new members
• Maintain a positive, empathetic and professional attitude towards members
• Respond promptly to support meeting enquiries via email
• Report the monthly attendance to the Support Coordinator
• Complete the facilitator evaluation online form following the meeting
• Close working relationship with the Support Coordinator.

Key skills and competencies required
• Ability to bring people together in a positive, empathetic and nurturing environment
• Lead meetings in a positive and encouraging manner and set the tone of the meeting
• Clear and empathetic written and verbal communication style
• Desire to progress Fertility NZ’s mission and support people experiencing the rigours of fertility challenges
• Ability to stay calm when members are stressed or upset
• Ability to listen.

Time commitment:

The time commitment of this role is 3-5 hours per month; the more energy and initiative that go into this role, the greater the benefits are to Aucklanders with fertility challenges.

Getting started:
The first step is to express your interest by filling out the form below. We will then put you in touch directly with the organisation for more information on the role and how to proceed.
