Chairperson of the Grey Lynn Toy Library

This is a great opportunity for someone who would like to expand their skills in leadership and community organization. This highly fulfilling role will have you stepping into the center of a community of families, supporting toy library operation on a weekly basis, and working strategically to grow our library membership over the year. You will be actively supported our helpful committee, and given full freedom to use your unique skills and talents to shape our organization.

The payoff? Our children’s delight and excitement as they run into the library to explore our amazing selection of toys. The Grey Lynn Toy Library is a community based, not for profit organization which serves the families of Grey Lynn, Point Chevalier, Kingsland, Western Springs, and Westmere. Our library owns over 1,000 toys that we lend out to member families with children from 4 months - 7 years old. We are primarily volunteer/parent run, and have been in operation for over 25 years.

The chairperson of the Toy Library is responsible for overseeing toy library operation, ensuring the rules and constitution of the Toy Library are upheld, overseeing development and implementation of a strategic plan for the Toy Library (marketing, communications, operations, and grants and funding), managing and recruiting committee members, acting as a signatory for the Toy Library in all legal and financial purposes, and conducting our Annual General Meeting in March each year. We are a small organization that has between 4-8 people on the committee who work behind the scenes, 1 paid librarian who who runs the library sessions twice a week, and 3-4 regular volunteers who help the librarian.

Please provide a current C.V. and a cover letter outlining why you are interested in this position and what you have to offer our library. Please only apply if you are interested in fulfilling the role on a long term basis (minimum 1 year).
