Climate Action Community Engagement Team Member

We are looking for an open, friendly person passionate about the climate! Alongside a staff member you will be engaging with the community of Albert-Eden at markets, libraries or other events through a stall in the Albert-Eden Local Board area, providing information on how people can take climate action in their homes and community. Sharing information about existing environmental initiatives and how to get involved and ways people can reduce their carbon footprints. Volunteer alongside a friendly passionate community team. The Albert-Eden Local Board area comprises: Balmoral, Epsom, Mt Albert, Mt Eden, Pt Chev, Kingsland, Sandringham. Full training provided.

The role involves:

  • helping to set up stall with activities, leaflets and giveaways
  • engaging the public in conversations about climate action
  • provide info available at stall (familiarisation prior is essential)
  • encourage public to sign up to our mailing list and engage in activities that help reduce our carbon footprint
  • take photos of our community making pledges for the climate
  • help pack down stall

It’s a casual, flexible role — perfect for someone with a passion for people and the planet!

Requirements:

Enjoying to engage with people and having conversations about local climate action.
Good English.
Other languages are helpful but optional.

Time commitment:

2-3 hours per stall event, usually on weekends, choice of attending any number of events (mostly held September - November and February - May), attendance flexible
