Repair Cafe Manager

Doughnut Economics Advocates New Zealand (DEANZ) is an advocacy group for people who are concerned about climate change and environmental degradation, and the threat to the social balance presented by the relentless pursuit of GDP growth. Our goal is to encourage attitude and behavioural change from a growth-led to a sustainability-led economy through effective communication and education.

You will be helping us with our Repair Café initiative. A Repair Café is an event where people bring their loved broken or damaged items to be fixed for free, saving money and reducing the amount of material that ends up in landfill. You will be helping us with smooth running of the Repair Café.

Requirements:

You will have good communication skills as you will be required to contact volunteers using phone, email and social media as required to ensure you have enough volunteers for the event. All training will be provided. On the event day (generally Saturday 11 am - 2pm)you will ensure that the Repair Café is running smoothly. Communicate with volunteers and guests. Follow the processes that will be explained to you during the training, as well as taking photos where appropriate.

Repair Café Locations looking for Manager or assistant manager are:

Onehunga (second Saturday of the month 10.30am - 2.30pm)
NewLynn (fourth Saturday of the month 10.30am - 2.30pm)
Manurewa (third Saturday of the month 10.30am - 2.30pm)
Pukekohe (first Saturday of the month 10.30am - 2.30pm) and

You will only be attending one relocation unless you want to volunteer for more than one.

Time commitment:

about 5-6 hours per month (4 hours on the day, and 1-2 hrs contacting volunteers before the event)
