Visitor Host - The Upstairs Art Gallery

The Upstairs Art Gallery is a not for profit community art gallery. We aim to promote the arts to our local residents and wider Auckland. We specifically focus on emerging artists. We run exhibitions, movies, Pop-up exhibitions, and events all within the scope of art.

We have a diverse range of roles that are available as a visitor host at The Upstairs Art Gallery. We would like assistance with front of house, openings, and events. Some roles are unsupervised and require you to work alone. Responsibilities include customer service, processing of sales, and recording visitor numbers. With events there is some cleaning, set up and pack down required.

Requirements:

A welcoming attitude is the most important skill needed, along with good communication skills as this role is mostly customer facing. An interest in the arts would be beneficial. We will give training on our sales system and eftpos. All successful applicants will receive an induction and the managers are alway contactable.

Time commitment:

There are two sections for host volunteering. One is our Sunday roster, which has two shifts. 10am to 1pm or 1pm to 4pm. A volunteer can decide which shift they would be available for. The other section is events and openings. These have varied time requirements that change from month to month. We send a callout before the beginning of the month and give shifts that are available. Volunteers can decide which shifts they can help with. There is no expectation or minimum requirement.
