Red Cross Meals on Wheels Driver - Middlemore depot

We're urgently looking for friendly volunteer drivers to join one of our five Middlemore depot volunteer teams, (Aries, Leda, Mango, Pisces or Virgo) to provide an essential service in our communities by delivering nutritional meals to vulnerable people. We need five volunteers each weekday.

Meals from the Middlemore pick-up point are delivered to Papatoetoe, Mangere East, Mangere Bridge, Otahuhu and Mt. Wellington.
Meal pick-up time is 10:30am Monday to Friday.
Shifts start and end at the meal pick-up point on Hospital Road in Middlemore.

Your tasks are to pick up chilly bins containing meals in your car, deliver meals to people and have a brief chat at the door, return chilly bins to the depot and go home feeling good that you’ve helped someone out today.

Petrol vouchers will be provided.

Requirements:

Min age 18 years. Training 4 to 8 hours. Valid driver's licence. Vehicle with valid registration (rego) and warrant of fitness (WoF).

Two character references. You’ll need to be a friendly person who has their own car and a full driver licence. We’ll train you in how to carry out the role and you’ll be supported by Red Cross volunteers or staff members.

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment:

Meal pick-up time is 10:30am Monday to Friday.
A shift usually takes 60-90 minutes to complete.
Most of our drivers deliver meals once a week every two weeks, however shifts are flexible.
