Red Cross Meals on Wheels Driver - Middlemore depot
This role is urgently needed in your area
We're looking for friendly volunteer drivers to join one of our Middlemore volunteer teams, to provide an essential service in our communities by delivering tasty and nutritional meals to vulnerable people.
We urgently seek volunteers for routes around Mt Wellington, Ōtāhuhu, and Māngere Bridge, and would also welcome additional volunteers for routes covering Papatoetoe and Māngere East.
As a driver you would collect chillibins containing hot meals, deliver them and have a brief chat at the door, then return the chillibins to the depot and go home feeling good that you’ve helped someone out today.
Petrol vouchers will be provided.
Min age 18 years. Training 4 to 8 hours. Valid driver's licence. Vehicle with valid registration (rego) and warrant of fitness (WoF).
Two character references. You’ll need to be a friendly person who has their own car and a full driver licence. We’ll train you in how to carry out the role and you’ll be supported by Red Cross volunteers or staff members.
Meal pick-up time is 10:30am Monday to Friday.
Shifts start and end at the meal pick-up point on Hospital Road in Middlemore - and usually takes around 60-90 minutes.
Most of our drivers deliver meals once a week every two weeks, however shifts are flexible.
