GirlGuiding is all about empowering young people to develop confidence, leadership, and life skills. That means heading outdoors, adventuring locally, learning new things, and having fun by getting stuck in.

We need your skills- We’re looking for volunteer leaders in the community to support the next generation through weekly activities, planning sessions, and occasional camps.

Are you passionate about helping young people grow in confidence, develop new skills, and have fun? We urgently need enthusiastic Volunteer Leaders to join our supportive and welcoming team.

As a Volunteer Leader, you will:

  • Inspire and encourage tamariki to reach their potential and try new things
  • Be hands-on, enthusiastic, and patient
  • Join a supportive team and be part of a worldwide movement
  • Commit to weekly unit meetings during school terms, plus planning and occasional weekend events

What's involved?

During the school term, our leaders:

Attend a weekly unit meeting (up to two hours)
Help plan and deliver engaging activities for girls
Participate in occasional training sessions (evenings or weekends)
Attend occasional planning meetings, camps, trips, and special events

Volunteer Opportunities Available

Greenhithe Pippins (Ages 5–7)

📍 Greenhithe, Auckland
🕓 Thursdays, 4:30 pm – 5:30 pm (school terms only)

Greenhithe Brownies (Ages 7–9.5)

📍 Greenhithe, Auckland
🕠 Thursdays, 5:45 pm – 7:15 pm (school terms only)

No Experience Needed

You don't need previous Guiding experience—we provide training and support. Experience working with children or young people is helpful but not essential.

We're looking for reliable, positive volunteers who are keen to make a difference.

Requirements
Must be aged 18 years or older
Able to commit to regular attendance during school terms
A driver's licence is helpful but not essential

There is no cost to volunteer with GirlGuiding New Zealand.

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment:

This role would require a 2-3 hour a week commitment for planning and running activities. If a Unit Leader role doesn’t work for you, we have other, more flexible options that may suit.
