Home Tutor of English

Help refugees and new migrant adults learn English to live independently and participate in NZ society.
Free full training and on-going support provided.
Volunteers are placed with learners close to where they live, in South and East Auckland.

Requirements:

Volunteers must have a good understanding of everyday spoken English, good English writing skills, and be happy to share NZ culture and knowledge about services in the community. Have an interest in other cultures. We welcome other migrants as tutors also.

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment:

First training course will start Friday 16 February 2024 and continue for 5 consecutive Fridays finishing on 22 March, 2024 with later courses continuing through the year. Venue: Eastview Baptist Church, Chapel Road, Botany. After initial training is complete, 1-2 hours weekly, teaching learners.
