FOOD RESCUE BAKERS
If you are a wiz at baking we would appreciate your skills at making all things "Banana"...Banana Bread, Banana Muffins, Banana Cakes" using good quality rescued banana's to be prepared for our charities groups so they can be distributed out into the community to ensure we "feed people, not landfill".
Instead of this food being dumped, it's doing good.
Last year we rescued enough surplus food to provide the equivalent of over 3.3 million nutritious meals for our community, saving food that would otherwise go to landfill! We can’t do all this good work without the hands-on help of kind and committed volunteers.
Our volunteering shift is Monday to Friday, 9.00am to 12pm (see time commitment below for more information).
If you're keen to become a volunteer food rescue superhero, please get in touch - and feel free to get a friend or friends to do the same and carpool! There is plenty of parking at our Hub on Rosebank Road, Avondale as well as a bus stop outside the door and space in our Hub for your scooter or bike.
We provide hi-vis vests and an apron, do an on-site in-person induction on your first day, and advise volunteers to tie back long hair, wear comfortable, weather-appropriate clothes and close-toed shoes.
What we're doing to keep COVID safe :
- Our protocols are regularly reviewed and are based on our health and safety policy along with the government covid-19 guidelines
- Kai/food collections and distributions are contactless where possible
- We're all wearing masks and slapping on plenty of hand sanitiser.
We hope to hear from you soon!
All of our volunteers need to be able to work independently following completion of our buddy-led induction. Full training is provided.
We appreciate the time you donate to volunteering with us. Come 1 day a week, 2 days or 6 days.
Ideally we would like a commitment of at least 2 shifts a month but can work with you around your availability.
The first step is to express your interest by filling out the form below. We will then put you in touch directly with the organisation for more information on the role and how to proceed.
