Sandringham Playgroup Coordinator Helper

This can be a busy and a varied role where you will be responsible for running our Plunket Playgroup on Wednesdays and assisting our Playgroup Coordinator on Tuesdays, and ensuring the group are accessible to whānau in Sandringham on a regular basis. This includes providing a range of educational activities to enhance tamariki in their ongoing learning and development and encourage parents participation. You will set up and pack up each playgroup session, ensuring the health and safety of our participants and monitoring our inventory of equipment and supplies. Our playgroups include facilitating activities such as a story session, music session, play dough and painting and craft activity. You will also be responsible with ensuring the space is tidy at the conclusion of the session. As a part of this role, you will also incorporate the fundraising opportunity, so you will need to be comfortable asking for donations from our participants.
The purpose of the role is to bring parents and caregivers together, giving them a chance to meet up and connect in a welcoming and safe environment.

Requirements:

The ideal person will be friendly, outgoing, and have good communication skills. You will need to have Internet access, be confident on social media, and comfortable in performing some administration duties.
You will be passionate about community and supporting families. You will be a self-motivated, warm individual with a skill for communicating with whānau from all walks of life. Working with tamariki will require you to be flexible and agile, therefore you will be able to adjust as required.

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment:

The role takes 3 to 4 hours of your time per week. Training will include: Welcome to Plunket, Health and Safety, Child protection policies, working safely in the community, and the role requires an ongoing commitment.
