Gallery Hosts - Lake House Arts and the Watershed Gallery

We are seeking Gallery Hosts to be based inside The Becroft Gallery at Lake House Arts Centre and at our new Pop-Up Gallery Space the Watershed Gallery at Shore City Mall. Full induction, H&S and Volunteer Role training is provided.

Lake House Arts Centre

Lake House Arts, Takapuna, is a community facility supporting and presenting arts, culture, heritage and learning. Operating since November 2000, we are home to a vibrant community of over 25 resident artists and arts/culture organisations. Hundreds of members and artists from the wider community regularly participate in our exhibitions and events. Classes and holiday programmes provide access to over 2,000 enrolments per annum. We are one of the top five providers of arts, culture and heritage programmes in the Auckland Region, and welcome over 65,000 visitors yearly.

Set in extensive landscaped gardens, three historic buildings make up Lake House Arts. Utilising six gallery spaces, five hirable studios, and a popular cafe, we provides public exhibitions, events, classes, workshops, holiday programmes, tours and more.

The Watershed Gallery - Opening in September 2021

Lake House Arts launches new no commission Pop-Up Gallery at Shore City Mall.

The Watershed Gallery is a new initiative started in collaboration between Lake House Arts and Shore City Mall, which will see the launch of a new salon style, pop-up gallery representing Member Artists from all of the North Shore Art Centres.

Kaiwhakahaere for Lake House Arts, Grae Burton says the exciting initiative will give visitors to the Shore City, at the heart of Takapuna, a unique experience of local artists. “Artwork will be hung and displayed floor to ceiling, with massive floor and flat display space for ceramics and sculptural works.” Say Burton. “We are very grateful to Shore City for the opportunity to collaborate in support of our community artists in the beautiful retail spaces Shore City provides.”

Requirements:

Our Gallery Hosts are responsible, reliable and regular (able to commit to a scheduled block of time (10am - 12:30pm AND/OR 12:30pm - 3pm) Tuesday to Sunday.

Our Gallery Hosts are tidy, great communicators and will be able to assist our customers with purchases -

At Lake House Arts this means connecting our customers with our staff to complete purchases.

At the Watershed Gallery this means helping customers with our online purchasing of work through our website.

Some closing and locking of spaces may be required.

No background check is required, however volunteers should provide one phone character reference.

Time commitment:

(10am - 12:30pm AND/OR 12:30pm - 3pm) Tuesday to Sunday.
