After School Helpers - Northcote
The YMCA After School Care Programme is more than childcare - and we need your help to be the place to be when not at home or school!
We are looking for people who love working with kids, have some spare time and would like to give back to the community. This may suit a high school student (min age 16) who is looking for work experience, a parent wanting to get back into the workforce and wanting some newer references, or someone who is a bit bored with retirement and is looking for something to do!
Our programme is onsite at Sunnybrae Normal School in the school hall. Children come in, have afternoon tea (that we prepare) and then we jump into activities based on our three themes of Active, Creative and Life Skills. Volunteers assist with supervision, running and participating in activities, and being there for kids to talk to.
Minimum age is 16 due to our MSD accreditation. We would love a mix of people so there is no age limit. Ideal volunteers are able to talk to children, interested in sports/active pursuits or art/crafts.
Please note; it is a YMCA and MSD requirement that all volunteers must submit a CV, and complete an application form
Programme runs 3pm-6pm Monday-Friday.
Some volunteers like to volunteer one day a week 3pm-6pm, or a couple of days per week for the first part of the afternoon (e.g. 3pm-5pm). This is an on-going role, so we do expect a commitment for at least the term to ensure consistency for the kids.
Getting started:
The first step is to express your interest by filling out the form below. We will then put you in touch directly with the organisation for more information on the role and how to proceed.
