After School Care Helpers - Warkworth

The Y (formerly YMCA) After School Care Programme is more than childcare - and we need your help to be the place to be when not at home or school!
We are looking for people who love working with kids, have some spare time and would like to give back to the community. This may suit a high school student (min age 16) who is looking for work experience, a parent wanting to get back into the workforce and wanting some newer references, or someone who is a bit bored with retirement and is looking for something to do!
Our programme is onsite at Warkworth School in the senior hall. Children come in, have afternoon tea (that we prepare) and then we jump into activities based on our three themes of Active, Creative and Life Skills. Volunteers assist with supervision, running and participating in activities, and being there for kids to talk to.

Requirements:

Enthusiasm, empathy, communication skills

Please note; due to our MSD accreditation, there is a minimum age of 16years. There is no maximum age!
Once your interest is received by us, we will email you an application form for you to return with your CV. We will then get you in for an interview and to a police check and reference check. This is a requirement under the Childrens Act.

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment:

Programme runs 2:45pm-6pm Monday - Friday. We ask that volunteers do a minimum of 1 day a week. This is due to our training programme and consistency for our children.
There is also opportunities in the holiday programmes (school breaks) if interested.

The first step is to express your interest by filling out the form below. We will then put you in touch directly with the organisation for more information on the role and how to proceed.
