Ushering for Tim Bray Theatre Company shows
Our volunteer ushers are an integral part of our show crew, and we love having them join our front of house team. The role involves vacuuming the theatre and foyer before and after the shows, showing audience members to their seats, watching the shows while helping audience members come and go safely as required, helping evacuate the audience during an emergency, and assisting with poster sales after the show. Lunch is provided for our volunteers by the cafe next door.
For Health and Safety reasons, volunteers must be over age 16. We would be willing for a capable 13+ year old to come and volunteer alongside a parent, however. Our main requirement is if you sign up for a shift, you are counted on to be there, so communication is essential if you are unable to attend. This job is suitable for wheelchair users, and can be adapted for volunteers with disabilities. You are welcome to bring a carer or assistant to help you on your volunteer shift. We do require a good understanding of English, and the ability for you or your carer/assistant to communicate well in English in case of an emergency. Our audience members are predominately children of all backgrounds and abilities, so enjoyment of working with young kids is expected.
Feel free to sign up for as many days as you would like. Single day and multi day sign ups are both appreciated. Times required are 9:30am - 2:30pm, Monday-Saturday. Our show is in the last week of the school term and the first week of the school holidays.
