Ushering - Theatre

Tim Bray Theatre Company is seeking people that can assist with ushering at our shows.
Our driving purpose is to fire young imaginations and ignite the creative minds of tomorrow, deepening and expanding their cultural awareness as we do so. Tim Bray Theatre Company was established in 1991. Since that date, the company has entertained and educated tens of thousands of children and young people through New Zealand theatre. The company is governed by a charitable trust, The Operating Theatre Trust.

Our volunteer ushers are an integral part of our show crew, and we love having them join our front of house team. The role involves vacuuming the theatre and foyer before and after the shows, showing audience members to their seats, watching the shows while helping audience members come and go safely as required, helping evacuate the audience during an emergency, and assisting with poster sales after the show. Lunch is provided for our volunteers by the cafe next door. If you register your interest here, you will be added to our database and contacted before each of our show season with all the details for our current production, and a link to sign up to shifts.

Requirements:

For Health and Safety reasons, volunteers must be 16 and over. Our main requirement is if you sign up for a shift, you are counted on to be there, so communication is essential if you are unable to attend. This job is suitable for wheelchair users, and can be adapted for volunteers with disabilities. You are welcome to bring a carer or assistant to help you on your volunteer shift. We do require a good understanding of English, and the ability for you or your carer/assistant to communicate well in English in case of an emergency. Our audience members are predominately children of all backgrounds and abilities, so enjoyment of working with young kids is expected.

Time commitment:

Feel free to sign up for as many days as you would like. Single day and multi day sign ups are both appreciated. Times required are 9:30am - 2:30pm, Monday-Saturday. Our show is in the last week of the school term and the first week of the school holidays.
