Mentor for Year 1-6 Literacy and Numeracy

This role involves working with Tongan primary school children from Year 1 to Year 6 to improve their literacy and numeracy skills. Mentoring is performed either on a one to one basis, or with up to 3 children at most. The aim is for Pasifika children to begin their education with advanced skills in these subjects, then become high achievers throughout their secondary education and later in their chosen field.

Classes are run at: Lynfield College - Mt Roskill, Waitakere College - Henderson, Northcote College - Northcote, and Aorere College - Papatoetoe.

Requirements:

We are looking for people with an ability to help primary school children gain advanced literacy and numeracy skills. Appropriate skills and experience in teaching these subjects would be a bonus but we need people with a passion for challenge and innovation in education, and to go the extra mile with the child.

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment:

Minimum 1 hour and maximum 2 hours (6-8pm) on 1st and 3rd Friday during school term. We are looking for an ongoing commitment.
