We are a volunteer driven local community organisation with branches in New Lynn, Glen Eden, Avondale, Henderson and Massey, that are here to help the public. We provide free, confidential and independent information and advice. Our volunteers are our front line interviewers dealing with enquiries from members of the public. Our team provides a service that offers information, advice and advocacy, to help with questions about almost anything.
All volunteers complete an initial training programme before they start their rostered duties. Mentoring and ongoing support is available.
The essence of our service is about promoting knowledge and providing people with the confidence and information they need in their everyday lives. As interviewers/volunteers you will ensure every client leaves our Bureau feeling that they have been listened to and helped by friendly people who care.
Full training is given but volunteers will need an interest in people, information, and issues. Have excellent people skills and strong listening skills. Be confident with computers and have excellent English communication skills. The volunteer will need to attend initial training and be available for ongoing Learning and Development workshops and seminars. We are looking for an ongoing commitment to this role and ideally the volunteer will reside in the West Auckland area.
Our service is provided to the public from each of our five West Auckland branches by volunteers. Duties are morning or afternoon and volunteers are rostered on for one duty a week by arrangement. As the training can take some months we request a commitment of a minimum of 6 months.
The first step is to express your interest by filling out the form below. We will then put you in touch directly with the organisation for more information on the role and how to proceed.
