Horse Leader

We provide therapeutic horse riding for members of our community with disabilities and we are looking for people to assist as either, Side walkers or Horse leaders.
Our Side walkers, walk alongside each rider, assisting the rider to follow instructions given by the coaches. Riding a horse is a exciting, challenging activity with amazing therapeutic benefits for our riders.
Our horse leader are required to lead the horse, so some horse experience is required for this role.
You will be working along side experienced coaches and a great team of volunteers. Full training is provided to all our volunteers in line with NZRDA standard training programs. The health and safety of our volunteers and riders is always a priority and new volunteers will be well supported. It’s a great way to meet new people, learn some new skills, benefit from some outdoor exercise all while helping enrich the lives of people with disabilities in our community, and it is fun!!!

Requirements:

A reasonable level of fitness is needed as well as a caring, fun attitude. Horse leaders need to feel comfortable leading our horses, so some horse experience is needed for this role.
As you will be working with vulnerable members of our community a Police Check will be required.

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment:

We operate during school terms only.
Mondays and Thursdays, 9am till about 1.30pm We have 3 rides each day. If you are not able to stay for all rides we would still like to hear from you, we are grateful for the time that you can offer.
