Inclusive organisations create inclusive communities.

Please join us, as a Leader of Volunteers, in the development of a Support Guide, for volunteer involving community organisations and programmes, in engaging people with disabilities as volunteers.
The engagement and retention of disabled people as volunteers has many benefits for not just the volunteers themselves, but for the organisations and the wider community as well. Inclusive organisations create inclusive communities. Help us to create a volunteering environment that is inclusive to everyone!
The support guide is being created by Volunteering Auckland, in collaboration with relevant community groups, to help give confidence to community groups, non-profits and charitable organisations in engaging disabled people as volunteers.
The guide will offer information, guidance and practical support to non-profit community groups wanting to know more about recruitment and retention, benefits of volunteering, legislation and other policies, that are relevant to a disabled person's experience of volunteering.
In order to write this guide, Volunteering Auckland wishes to consult with both the non-profit community groups this guide will be aiming at assisting, along with disabled community members and volunteers themselves.
We want to know what questions you would ask of yourself as a Leader of Volunteers, your organisation, your volunteers and the prospective volunteer? What are your thoughts when looking to engage someone with a disability as a volunteer? Do you have any questions surrounding the recruitment and retention of disabled people as volunteers? Discussing these questions will help us ensure that this guide has all the information that non-profit community groups will need to know when approaching the engagement of disabled people as volunteers. All thoughts, queries, and questions are valid, especially if you have no experience in this space.
Please join us, as a Leader of Volunteers, to support the development of a Support Guide, for volunteer involving community organisations and programmes, in engaging people with disabilities as volunteers.
