Unitec students looking for volunteer work in 2014

5 Dec 2013 | Articles

Unitec’s Certificate in Business Administration and Computing (BAC) students are looking for volunteer opportunities to apply their learning – could your organisation benefit from some student power in 2014?

The CBAC (Levels 3 and 4) are vocational programmes where students gain the skills and attitudes required of employees, focusing on computing, administration, communication and business literacy and numeracy. Computing programs taught are the Microsoft Office suite and Level 4 students use MYOB accounting software.

Level 4 BAC students work in a simulated office called The Business Centre, where they perform different roles in a workplace environment, but would benefit greatly from industry work experience. The BAC students are looking for experience in the workplace or projects that they can work on in class during the 2014 academic year under the supervision of their lecturers. Examples of suitable work experience include data entry, customer service or filing.  Students are familiar with Word, Excel, Publisher, Powerpoint and Access. A number of the students are mature students with prior work experience.

The programmes are one semester long, commencing in February and July on all three Unitec campuses (Mt Albert, Waitakere and Albany).

If your organisation could benefit from some student assistance, Unitec would like to hear from you. Indicate your interest or find more about more about the programmes and the students by emailing enicholson@unitec.ac.nz.
