Thank you Volunteers - Phil Goff

24 Jun 2020 | Articles

The Mayor of Auckland and Volunteering Auckland Patron, Phil Goff, has a

of thanks to Aucklanders for their kindness in volunteering over the Lockdown period.

The power of volunteering, mahi aroha, shines through at times when our communities are most challenged, and our response to Covid-19 genuinely reflect this. It demonstrates what we can achieve and the difference we can make when we unite together, in the spirit of manaakitanga and whakawhanaungatanga.

“By working collectively together, by setting out to make a kinder, more compassionate community, we can make a difference.”

If you’ve been thinking about volunteering, but you’re not sure where to start, then we can help.

  • Think about why you want to volunteer. What do you want to achieve? Who would you like to help? What will you get out of it? Your answers to these questions will help you know what kind of role to look for.
  • Check out our current opportunities. Browse by type of role, location and hours or search for keywords
  • Register your interest. If you find something you like the look of then fill in the application form at the bottom of the role descriptions and you’ll hear back from us about how to go ahead. There’s no obligation at this stage - it’s just an opportunity to find out more about the role.

Volunteering is very rewarding, and there’s something to suit everyone. If you’re looking for inspiration, check out some of our Lockdown Heroes volunteer stories.
