Patient and Family Support- Companions and Patient and or Equipment Drivers

Your role as a Patient and Family Volunteer is to compliment our professional services be assisting with the 'quality of life' needs of patients-mostly companionship and support.
The contribution of our volunteers, make the lives of our patients, their carers and whanau to our organisation is absolutely invaluable.
Hospice West Auckland has patients and families requiring support from New Lynn to Hobsonville, we are looking for Westies who want to support Westies.
Patient Drivers are needed to pick up patients to bring to Hospice House for clinic appointments and patients programmes including accupuncture, pet therapy, art therapy, physio, tai chi and other activities.
Our next training session is on Monday 21st August 2023, 10am-12pm at Hospice House Te Atatu Peninsula.
No previous volunteering experience is necessary and support is provided.
We offer a Patient And Family Training session with our Social Care Team, the next Training Session is on at Hospice House Te Atatu Peninsula. You will be guided through the various roles, communication with patients and our Volunteer support team, procedures for community visits, professional boundaries and the Hospice West Auckland policies and safety. You will learn tips for effective listening and practical emotional and spiritual wellbeing. We value our volunteers in high regard for their contribution to ensure that hospice care is available to all those who need it.
We ask that our volunteers are available to do at least one shift per week-approximately 2 hours, or more if available. This enables our team to match you with a patient and meet their family, schedule regular weekly visits and complete activities.
