Seedbank Project Manager

The Moths and Butterflies of NZ Trust collects and stores seed from various plants and sells it to boost funds. We need a reliable and trustworthy person to liaise with our seed suppliers and to receive, clean (remove detritus) and store seed, keeping accurate records of what is available. The funds raised from seed sales helps fund our many projects. This is a position of responsibility as don well, our funds can be boosted immensely. All equipment and resources (e.g. courier bags) will be supplied. NOTE: This is a voluntary position but we do reimburse your expenses agreed to beforehand.

Requirements:

Home-based, must have computer and access to internet, and telephone. Seed needs to be stored in cool, dry locations, well-labelled. The seed will be sent to the Seedbank Project Manager (SPM) by courier and it may need to be cleaned and sorted on receipt. One "bad" seed in a batch could contaminate the whole batch. The MBNZT will be able to provide helpers at busy times. The SPM needs to be an organised and reliable person, with good management and record-keeping skills. The busiest time will be in late summer-autumn as this is when seed is typically produced. A background in gardening and understanding of botany would be an advantage. NOTE: This is a voluntary position but we do reimburse your expenses agreed to beforehand.

Time commitment:

3-5 hours per week. Busiest time late summer-autumn.
