Refugee Practical Support

This is an exciting opportunity to support people from refugee backgrounds who are starting their new lives in Aotearoa.
The role involves assisting clients find clothing items they need from our quality, second-hand or brand new donations, and ensuring the room is kept fully stocked and neatly arranged. You would work in teams with other volunteers or a staff member

Requirements:

We are looking for friendly and considerate volunteers who are sensitive to the different needs and vulnerabilities of the recipients. A reasonable level of fitness is preferable as volunteers may handle some heavy boxes when stocking the room. Volunteers must have access to their own vehicle.

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment:

This volunteering role is during weekdays, typically from 10 am to 2 pm or 12 pm to 4 pm. We operate the Clothing Room once to three times per week, as a flexible team service, and work on 7 intake rosters. Volunteers can commit to only one day per week or more days, depending on their availability and the needs of the programme. Due to the nature of the role, volunteers for this service are asked to consider helping on an ongoing basis.
