Special Olympics Football Coach

Special Olympics Auckland Trust requires a person, or persons, to assist the head coach of its Football program.

The coaching will benefit Special Olympics athletes who live with an intellectual disability or delayed development in the Central Auckland region through the development of their Football capabilities.

This is an opportunity to bring existing skills to the community sports sector and also to develop and learn new skills. Long-term commitment can provide opportunities for coaching roles at National Games and with teams representing Special Olympics New Zealand at the international level.


The volunteer should be able to communicate with the diverse group of athletes and be ready to interact with athletes, other volunteers, parents & administrators. They will be organised and have a positive and outgoing nature. The person will need to become a registered volunteer with Special Olympics New Zealand and meet the requirements of that process.

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment:

Special Olympics Auckland Trust Football group currently trains weekly on Saturday from 3.00pm-5.00pm. Additional hours for competitions occur on weekends approximately 3 times per annum.
