Ushering

Our volunteer ushers are an integral part of our show crew, and we love having them join our front of house team. The role involves vacuuming the theatre and foyer before and after the shows, showing audience members to their seats, watching the shows while helping audience members come and go safely as required, helping evacuate the audience during an emergency, and assisting with poster sales after the show. Lunch is provided for our volunteers.

Requirements:

For Health and Safety reasons, volunteers must be over age 16. We would be willing for a capable 13+ year old to come and volunteer alongside a parent, however. Our main requirement is if you sign up for a shift, you are counted on to be there, so communication is essential if you are unable to attend. This job is suitable for persons in a wheelchair, and can be adapted for different levels of ability. We do require a good understanding of English, and the ability to communicate well in English in case of an emergency. Our audience members are predominately children, so enjoyment of working with young kids is expected.

Time commitment:

Previously we have asked for ushers to just do a day with us, however our preference is to do a full week - if not more! Call times are usually 9:30am - 2:30pm, Monday-Saturday. Our shows are always in the last week of each school term, and then for the 2 weeks during each school holiday.
