Calling for Hula Dancers and Ukulele Players

IHC Auckland - North Shore

30 November 2019

We are looking for a small group of hula dancers who are willing to donate their time and talent for a couple of songs for our end or year event. We also need at least one ukulele player who can play while we greet our guests and people mingle. The end of year social for our Friendship Programme is a celebration for adults with intellectual disabilities and their volunteer companions. It is a chance to share memories and have some fun before many people travel for the holidays. As this is an event participants look forward to every year we always endeavour to make it special.

Ability and skill in hula dancing and if after the performance you are willing to teach a short, easy routine to our guests this would also be something they would really enjoy. This would suit a group of up to five dancers. And someone who is able to play the ukulele.

Time commitment:

In preparation for the event we will meet with you two weeks out to the event to discuss your routine and to check the music and routine, and the sound system in case you have recorded music. The event officially kicks off at 2:00pm but we ask performers to arrive at 1:30pm to prepare for the performance. You are welcome to leave once you are done performing, but you are invited to stick around and enjoy some food until the event closes at 4pm.

Getting started:
The first step is to express your interest by filling out the form below. We will then put you in touch directly with the organisation for more information on the role and how to proceed.
