Intake Coordinator and Administrative Assistant

The role of the Intake Coordinator / Admin Assistant includes screening applications, shortlisting applications, and interviewing potential mentors. We currently have two intakes per year. You will also assist with administrative tasks like database maintenance, event planning, taking meeting minutes, completing funding applications. Create a support system to the mentee family / whanau. Provide follow-up and referrals and documentation of files.

Training and support will be available from the Mentoring Programme Coordinator and other members of the Empower Team. Topics may include but are not limited to: Youth Mentoring Refugee Resettlement.


The Intake Coordinator and Admin Assistant will need a qualification in Human Services, have great organisational and priority management skills. Must have excellent communication skills (written and verbal). Having an understanding of refugee resettlement in New Zealand is important, and knowledge of local community and youth sector networks will be valuable. Have a sound judgment on when to act independently and when to refer back. Recent or previous experience in a youth specific context.

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment:

Days are flexible around volunteer availability, we expect the role to take from 4 to 6 hours per week.
