Food Preparation / Cook

We take food that would otherwise go to waste and turn it into restaurant quality meals and we are looking for volunteers to help with food prep in the afternoons at our Avondale location. You will be working with our friendly chefs and helping with food preparation and cooking so we can provide a nourishing three-course meal in the evening. Tasks include: peeling, chopping, washing & baking.
Through our work we are trying to help solve three huge problems - food waste, food poverty & social isolation. Our customers can pay whatever they like, even if it's nothing, for nutritious and freshly prepared food. Everybody Eats is not a soup kitchen, we provide our diners with a three-course meal served at shared tables, which encourages them to interact with our volunteers and other diners. You will be working with Everybody Eats chefs and will be shown how to carry out each task.

Requirements:

You don't have to be a master chef but some cooking/food prep experience is necessary. We mostly work with confident home cooks.

Time commitment:

We are very flexible so volunteers can come for between 2 and 6 hours. Our team are in the kitchen from midday Tuesday - Thursday.

Getting started:
The first step is to express your interest by applying directly to the organisation. You will then be able to find out more about the role and how to proceed.
