Health Shuttle Driver

Our Health Shuttle service is often used by older people who no longer drive, by people who are too unwell to drive, and those who cannot physically access other transport options. As a health shuttle driver, you will be driving a St John Shuttle vehicle and will be responsible for ensuring clients safely reach their appointments on time. This role is highly customer focussed and some clients may need assistance. Therefore, in addition to having sensitivity towards those who are unwell, being physically fit is also important in this role. There will be some admin tasks such as maintaining a vehicle log, and ensuring the vehicle is clean and fuelled. Note the vehicle may be a manual shift gear.

We will provide relevant training (including First Aid Level 1), a uniform, ongoing support, and St John membership (which gives free ambulance service for immediate family).

Requirements:

The volunteer must hold a full drivers licence with a clean driving history. Must have excellent communication and problem solving skills, be supportive, empathetic and caring, be physically able (a medical check prior to start is required) and have an appreciation of different cultures. Be available for a 4 hour shift per week or fortnight.

As the volunteer will be working with vulnerable members of the community a Ministry of Justice check will be required.

Time commitment:

We are looking for volunteers who can commit to a 4 hour shift once a week or fortnight, during weekdays, Monday-Friday.

Getting started:
The first step is to express your interest by filling out the form below. We will then put you in touch directly with the organisation for more information on the role and how to proceed.
