Male Youth Mentor

Sowers is looking for males to mentor boys aged 11-18. We are a faith based organisation looking for youth mentors in the Howick area to make a difference in a young person's life. You will meet with your mentee once a week, and take them through one of our programmes, this could include anger management, anxiety, self-esteem etc. Must be able to commit to ongoing contact with their mentee to build the relationship and provide stability. There will be regular individual and group supervision either at local schools or at out office. There will also be an orientation and full training before you start mentoring.


You must have an interest in young people and in making a positive difference in their lives. Must be an active listener and effective communicator and have some experience in giving advice in this area. Be a positive role model and be able to have fun! You will need a full NZ licence and own car. Ideally you will have a strong alignment to our faith based values, have compassion and a genuine passion for youth.

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment:

We expect the role to take up to 5 hours per week and we are looking for a long term commitment. There will be monthly supervision and a monthly staff meeting.
