Distribution Center Support
As the Distribution Support the volunteer will be receiving donated goods from Hospice supporters and assist with the sorting of clothes, bric-a-brac and other items into "just the good stuff" ready to distribute to the one of our six Hospice shops. There will be some packing involved and light lifting of boxes. The volunteer will work as part of the team, with on site training, and ongoing support from the Retail and Warehouse Manager and our Volunteer services team.
Funds raised through our Hospice Charity Shops go to support the work of Hospice and provided services free of charge.
A willingness to work as part of a team and be able to take direction, while also able to take initiative and work independently once trained. Sensitivity, understanding and respect for our multicultural community, and supporters is a must. There is light lifting involved and must be able to be on your feet for reasonable lengths of time.
Because of the nature of the organisation and the volunteer will be working with donated items the role requires a Ministry of Justice Check.
Tōtara Hospice as an organisation does not conscientiously object to anyone accessing their rights under the End of Life Choices Act when it passes into law in November this year. Our focus will remain, as it always has been, on delivering to the needs of our patients and whānau. We will respect and support patients who choose this option.
We expect the role to take 3 to 4 hours per week between Monday and Friday, but we are also very flexible and would be appreciative of any time offered. We are looking for an ongoing commitment.
The first step is to express your interest by filling out the form below. We will then put you in touch directly with the organisation for more information on the role and how to proceed.
