Ushers for Childrens Theatre

The Operating Theatre Trust (Tim Bray Productions) is Auckland’s leading theatre company for children, creating world-class theatre most often based on New Zealand literature. We stage four shows a year at the Pumphouse Theatre in Takakpuna (each show runs for three weeks in April, July, Sept/Oct and December) and are looking for volunteers to join our team as ushers during our shows.

The role involves welcoming the audience, assisting the audience to their seats, and handing out programmes. You will be able to watch the show, while assisting anyone who comes in and out of the theatre during the performance.

You will be helping us to provide an enjoyable theatre experience to our audiences; School and Early Childhood groups as well as families, parents, grandparents and caregivers. Children attend Theatre Workshops during the season as well as New Zealand Sign Language Interpreted and Audio Described Performances with Touch Tours. The theatre is a vibrant space during the season with many children enjoying all aspects of theatre. Get to know the cast and crew and relish in the creative theatre space!

Must have good work ethic, a timely manner, and a high level of commitment. You will have good communication and people skills, and have a friendly manner as you will be working with children and the public.

An official t-shirt will be provided to wear while working, but we are looking for a smart/casual standard of dress with a general tidy appearance. Must have own transport for to and from the venue.
