Meal Preparation Assistants (open to youth)

We are a looking for volunteers in the North Shore and Hibiscus Coast area who would be happy to shop and prepare meals for our day centres that run once a week in various locations. We have 8 centres running on different days, numbers at each centre vary but are between 15-35 people. We cater for older people mainly 80s+ offering social stimulation, craft, exercise and fun. For some this is their only outing for the week. The cost for the food is reimbursed to you but it must be within the agreed budget from the Supervisor each week.

Meals prepared must be cost effective, healthy and can be simple and can be prepared either at the volunteer’s home or on site. We welcome individual volunteers of ages 16 and over and/ or families with children and under 16s provided that parents or guardians are onsite supervising.

Requirements:

Must have empathy with older people, be able to prepare budget conscious and nutritious meals.
Vaccination against COVID-19 will be required for this role (note that agreement to be vaccinated is acceptable if you are not yet scheduled for vaccination)

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment:

We run centres from Mondays to Thursdays at various locations on the North Shore and Hibiscus Coast. One morning per week would the minimum time and we are looking for an ongoing commitment. Meals are served at midday.
