Community House Host

The Birkdale and Beach Haven Community Houses are vibrant community hubs where people meet for meetings, classes and social activities so it is important that the House Host makes visitors feel welcome. Our team of friendly volunteers show manaakitanga by being open, inviting and well informed.

As well as welcoming visitors, volunteers set up rooms for classes, keep the Houses tidy and make tea and coffee for groups. They also answer the phone, take phone messages plus there is the opportunity for Volunteers to become involved with basic house administration if they wish.

Requirements:

Friendliness and willingness to engage with the people of our diverse community. Be welcoming and inviting to our visitors – in short, be a good host! Ability to follow basic written instructions.
As the volunteer will come into contact with children a Police Check will be required.

Time commitment:

Volunteers are asked to work either a morning (9am-12pm) or afternoon (12pm to 3pm) shift on a weekday, preferably weekly but fortnightly can be accommodated.
