Cardiovascular disease (heart disease and stroke) has an enormous impact on the lives and health of all New Zealanders. It is New Zealand’s number one killer, causing 40% of all deaths annually, many of which are premature and preventable. The Heart Foundation works hard to reduce the suffering this causes many families, from funding research to supporting those living with heart disease.
They also work with early education centres and schools throughout New Zealand to educate children and their families about the importance of healthy eating and physical activity. They support their popular Jump Rope for Heart programme which aims to get kids active through developing their skipping skills.
As a charity, the Heart Foundation relies on the generosity of donors to continue this vital work. Their Annual Appeal is 8th to 14th February 2010. This week is their big opportunity to raise vital funds to continue their work, as well as raise awareness of heart disease prevention. Their Street Appeal is on Friday 12th February - please give generously when you see the Heart Foundation collectors. Together we will beat heart disease.
Heart Foundations Annual Appeal is on Friday 12th February 2010 and they need collectors and helpers like you.
